What Is Salt Therapy?

Salt therapy, also called halotherapy, is a wellness practice that involves spending time in a room where microscopic particles of pharmaceutical-grade salt are dispersed into the air.

Modern salt therapy was inspired by observations of European salt miners, who appeared to experience fewer respiratory issues than the general population. Today, halotherapy is offered in dedicated salt rooms around the world as a natural wellness experience.

How Does Salt Therapy Work?

The active component of salt therapy is the pharmaceutical-grade salt dispersed into the air by the halogenerator.

These microscopic particles are much smaller than table salt and are designed to remain airborne during the session. As you sit comfortably and breathe normally, the salt particles circulate throughout the room.

Salt therapy is non-invasive, drug-free, and requires no special preparation. Most people simply relax, read, meditate, or close their eyes during the session.

What Happens During a Salt Therapy Session?

A typical session lasts approximately 45 minutes.

When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into our comfortable salt room and invited to settle into one of our zero-gravity chairs. Once the session begins, the halogenerator disperses pharmaceutical-grade salt into the air while soft lighting and a peaceful atmosphere encourage relaxation.

Many clients use their session as an opportunity to:

  • Unplug from the constant demands of daily life
  • Read a book or listen to calming music
  • Practice mindfulness or meditation
  • Rest quietly
  • Support their overall wellness routine

We recommend comfortable clothing and arriving a few minutes early so you can settle in before the session begins.

Salt Therapy for Relaxation and Stress Relief

Many people don’t realize how rarely they give themselves permission to simply sit, breathe, and be still.

For 45 minutes, the salt room offers a quiet space away from phones, responsibilities, and constant distractions. Clients often describe the experience as calming, grounding, and restorative.

Whether you’re managing a demanding schedule, feeling overwhelmed, or simply craving a moment of peace, the salt room provides a dedicated space to slow down and recharge.

How Often Should You Use Salt Therapy?

The best frequency depends on your individual goals.

Some people visit occasionally as part of a self-care routine, while others come more regularly during allergy season or when they feel they need additional support.

Common Questions We Hear Every Day

Will I taste the salt?

Some people notice a slight salty taste on their lips during or after a session, while others don’t notice it at all.

Can I bring a book?

Absolutely. Many clients bring a book, meditate, nap, or simply enjoy some quiet time. We do not encourage electronics in the salt room so no e-readers, please.

Will my clothes get covered in salt?

No. The pharmaceutical-grade salt particles dispersed by the halogenerator are microscopic and do not leave visible salt residue on clothing.

Will I be alone in the room?

We offer both community sessions and private salt room sessions. You’re welcome to choose whichever option feels most comfortable. Private sessions do have an additional charge of $20 per party.

Can I use my phone during the session?

We ask that you do not bring any electronics including your phone or Apple watch into the salt room. This is to both help you relax and also because the salt is corrosive to electronics.
